«Nothing Is What It Seems»

The works of the three artists presented by Gallery K35 share a common thread: their creations always play with meanings, illusions that demand careful observation and interpretation.

For Natalia Spechinskaya, drawing serves as a kind of "kaleidoscope" of ideas, images, and meanings. Using graphic media, Natalia develops concepts for her large-scale series, yet each of her drawings contains multiple layers of meaning—often hinted at by their titles. The recognizable motifs characteristic of her work frequently reappear from one piece to another, lending them a distinct visual coherence.

Viktor Sergey is an artist who rarely discusses his own work. His pieces, executed in a style of conditional "neo-realism," often feature photographic depictions of his acquaintances or figures from fashion magazines placed in utterly unexpected scenarios. The cinematic quality of his art creates suspense—it’s often unclear how the situation might unfold the very next second.

Anastasia Ivanenkova, the youngest artist at the booth, works with the medium of embroidery. Playing with texts and pseudo-classical imagery, subverting them, she achieves an effect of defamiliarization—where lyrics from popular songs or painfully familiar childhood phrases from parents take on entirely new meanings.
