Exhibition "FRAGILITY"

Exhibitions
Dates: 19/04/2024 - 16/16/2024
Address: 9 Usacheva St., Moscow
A three-artist exhibition spanning different mediums, dedicated to a specific quality of both matter and mind. According to technical dictionaries, "fragility" is the tendency of solid materials to fracture under stress with little prior deformation. Through artistic means, Ilya Gaponov, Ekaterina Andriyanova, and Sergey Kolosov contemplate the fragility of the world around us—of people, objects, and bonds.

In a precious porcelain cup, pieced together from fragments, as in a human life, lies an attempt to grasp the value and uniqueness of existence itself. In a new painting series, Ilya Gaponov speaks to this through silent portraits of loved ones, fragmented imagery, and vulnerable perspectives. Ekaterina Andriyanova continues the narrative, recreating cherished porcelain pieces from a family collection in their original scale. The interlacing restored cracks on 19th-century plates bear witness to history and the care of generations. In new works by Sergey Kolosov, shards of glass and porcelain appear suspended at a moment of highest tension, freezing harmony on the verge of chaos.

Don’t breathe. Don’t test for strength. Just let your gaze travel gently across these fragile surfaces. Perhaps what our world needs most right now is precisely this kind of tender attention.
